Superbowl

Go Saints! This was definitely not a regular cake. The field was made of brownie and the football of yummy strawberry cake I had made before. This was my first time actually sculpting the cake. Then I covered the football in fondant and added detail with icing.

Work Cake

So my friends from my job at the hospital kept buggin me to make a cake for them. My one friend claims she loves fondant. Who loves fondant? That's the worst part of the cake; it just looks pretty. But I did it anyway :). I decided to start making my cakes from sctrach so I could find some great recipes. So i decided to make a triple layer cake using the same recipe but splitting in in thirds and making each layer a flavor. The first was strawberry with real strawberries inside, second was lemon, and third was chocolate. The cakes ended up being very crumblie and I had to chuck the chocolate becasue it was falling apart so I managed with two layers. Then I made a little bow design and sprinlked with some pearl dust. The two layers ended up tasting really good but iI had to tweak the recipe to make it ot so dry.

XOXOXO

So these are just two little fun cakes I made for valentines. I have been learning so much about everything; recipes, techniques, etc. So with every new cake that I make i like to try something different to see if it works. The first cake was made of angel food cake and filled with jam. It turned out pretty gross. The cake absorbed the jam making a hard layer in between so I would not suggest doing that. The Second cake I made from scratch. It was chocolate with a layer of caramel and it was pretty darn good.

Rose Cake

This is the funnest cake I have done so far. I loved it. My husband was so sweet and for christmas got me a lot of tools for cake decor which helps tremedously. So I learned how to make roses and thought it would be fun to make a rose cake for Laura's Birthday. I bought fondant for this one becuase I was interested in how it compared to marshmallow fondant. And although it was nice to work with and no mess, it definitly did not taste as good. I used gumpaste for all the decor and used a really cool tool to make the little flowers that i put all over. I also got pearl dust which was fun to use; it made the bow shimmer.

Terry's 25th Birthday

Well this one was definitly an experience. We used a 16" cake pan for the bottom so you can imagine how big this one was. It took a long time and a lot of cake mix. The middle layer ended up looking thin. That's becuase we dropped one of the middle sized cakes when trasporting it....YA like i said...an experience. We cut the letters and starts out of gumpaste, and ended up dressing it up with lots of ornaments and things that he loves since we ran out of time.

Christmas Party Cake

So I was hosting a Christmans Party and thought it would be way fun to make a cake. So i made a couple different layers and colors, and just YouTubed some more to find out how to make characters. Although we never ended up eating it, it was fun to make it.
This was the start of it

First try with Fondant

This was my first try with fondant! I was bored at home one day and was watching cake boss and thought "Hey I could do that!". So I did some YouTubin and found a marshmallow fondant recipe. Then I just dyed the fondant with food coloring to make different colors. I didnt really have a design in mind so I just thought of things as i went. I definitly learned a lot of things to DO and NOT DO, and it just motivated me even more to keep learning and getting better.

Halloweenie

One thing that I have learned along the way is always take pictures of your creations before you eat them :) This was one example. For Halloween my mother, husband, and I had lots of fun making different creatures out of cup cakes. they were so good we forgot to take pictures till we only had a couple left, this was Frankie.

Fun sweets

So incase some of you dont know Terry and I are U of U fans. GO UTES! so i decided to make some cookies for one of their big football games. They turned out nice and soft. It was pretty fun. And NO i wont make blue ones with a Y sorry :)
